Dead Ted

Dead Ted
Zog On:

Well, today is very historic in the sense that the last living Kennedy brother past away. For over 50 plus years the world has been influenced by the political opinions of either John, Robert or Ted Kennedy. The Kennedy's are truly the royal family of the United States. All a person has to do is look at the Kennedy family tree and they will discover numerous prominent and influential people that have shaped American politics in the past, present, and future. (Sargeant Shriver, Patrick J. Kennedy, Caroline Kennedy, etc.)

Ted Kennedy was known as the "Liberal Lion" and he did his best to live up to that title every second of everyday. Despite Ted spewing his liberalism all over the place, he had a tendency to get himself in odd predicaments. (Expelled from Harvard, Chappaquiddick, and womanizing). Even though Ted served our country for over 50 years, his integrity and motives in my opinion will always be under question. For example:

His biggest act as a politician is currently in the making. (links 1 and 2) Just a week ago, Ted Kennedy was writing to the State of Massachusetts and asking that they change a law that he had put in place in 2004 that delegates who can appoint a senator due to a vacancy. In 2004, the Massachusetts governor was Republican Mitt Romney and Senator John Kerry was running for president. Ted Kennedy knew that Mitt Romney would appoint a Republican to replace Kerry so he passed legislation to prevent this. Fast forward 5 years, Ted is on his deathbed and wants the previous law that he passed changed because the 5 month waiting period for a senate replacement is to long. Ted knew that the current governor, Democrat Deval Patrick, would replace him with a Democrat so the only thing stopping Ted was Ted.

Now that Ted is dead, it's only a matter of time before legislation is passed to reverse the 2004 law so that it can once again be an instant replacement for the vacant senatorial seat. The significance of all this is the fact that the Democrats need that vacant spot to be filled by a Democrat now so that they can have their 60-40 margin. This current national health care plan was a vision that Ted Kennedy had several years ago. The Democrats will pull out all stops to get this plan passed, even if that means memorializing the health car plan in the name of Ted Kennedy. The big thing to watch hear is whether or not the Senate tries to reconciliate this bill and drop the 60-40 margin down to only 51 votes. Just to note, reconciliation in the Senate is reserved only for budget issues. (For more on reconciliation, please look at links 4,5.)

20 Years Of Jesus and Counting

Zog On:
This past weekend marked the 20th anniversary of the Harvest Crusades in Anaheim, California. Pastor Greg Laurie (my pastor :-) of Harvest Christian Fellowship in Riverside, California has been senior pastor at Harvest for over 35 years. What makes Pastor Greg so different from other stereo-typical preachers is his common sense, no nonsense approach to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Pastor Greg allows listeners to feel at ease when he delivers the Word of God.

Over the past 20 years, the Harvest Crusades have drawn over 4 million people around the world to hear the powerful message of Jesus Christ. What really gives me chills, is that over 325,000 people have made the decision to put their lives in the hands of the Savior, Jesus Christ. Three-hundred and twenty five thousand people is approximately the size of New Orleans, LA!

The ministries of Harvest Christian Fellowship are truly a treasure for the Unites States of America. I pray and hope that Harvest continues to run with the torch of evangelism left by Billy Graham many years ago. It's exciting to be able to witness such dynamic events like the Harvest Crusades that are intently focused on preaching Jesus and nothing else.

CARDINAL SIN? (I saw this on JRIB)

Zog On:

It's time for Zog to return to the ring and get some! I've been gone way to long and I'm ready to SPaR again. For those of you who know me, you know I love sports and have a tender spot for Kentucky athletics. It saddens me to see all this filth and muck being heaved around the nation about an extraordinary man -- Rick Pitino. These allegations are in deed harsh and I sense there is some credibility to the fact that Mr. Pitino committed adultery based on preliminary on his own statements. In the Marine Corps, adultery is illegal; no questions about it; fortunately for Mr. Pitino he will have a fair chance at proving his case. I honestly believe there are many things left to question in this case particularly the whole notion that Mr. Pitino paid the adulteress 3K for an abortion. Something else that bugs me is the fact that this women wanted 10mil. from Mr. Pitino to settle this whole thing -- extortion? It's evident all the facts aren't on the table and until they are it's wrong for myself as well as others to cast such grave judgements. All we know right now is that Rick Pitino has been an icon in college basketball for more than 20 years and has transformed the lives of many young men. As much as I want to wrap Rick up in a white robe and scream he's innocent; I must restrain and let the facts unravel.

Let the SPaRing begin.

Zog On:

I've been on a long hiatus battling through the grind of life and now I'm ready to box around with some heavyweights called Sports, Politics, and Religion. I want to start by stating that "sparzog" blog is a site that is open to all participants. My vision is to have an open ring of ideas that challenges both the referee (myself) and the contenders/bloggers. Continuing with the boxing anologies, although I am the voluntary referee and the honorable ring side judge, as well as a contender with everyone else, I want to make it known that these SPaRing matches are to remain honest, clean, and positive -- no hits below the belt.

So enough of the disclaimer junk, I want some action. I think it will be best to have "SPaRing" matches as frequent as possible. (My honest goal would be everyday -- realistically, two or three times a week) The format will be fairly simple. I'll pick an event in Sports, Politics, or Religion and comment on it with some of my own insight. I'll post the blog and the sphere will weigh in on it. I'm eager to hear opinions from all spectrums. I think much can be gained from a man or a women who is willing to listen to what others have to say. When communication is exhibited in this type of manner, mutual respect can be gained and potential barriers that once existed between two opposing views can be bonded a little closer together. As one of my favorite talk show hosts proclaims, "Power to the People!"

Since this is technically my inagural blog, I want to take a drive the SEC highway. As many of you sports fan migh have noticed last week, the NCAA saw the #1 and #2 teams in college football get upset. With just a brief observation, once can notice that the SEC has many teams in the rankings and one particular has a soft spot in my heart. The University of Kentucky Wildcats shocked the world last Saturday by bringing their A+ game and upsetting #1 L.S.U. Now, I have a little favortism towards KY because that is where I was born and raised for 20 years. It's exciting to see UK have some excitement other than pony's and basketball. Watch out this week for KY to stun the nation once again and upset Mr. Meyer and the Gators. Could it possible be that KY might have a chance at the BCS or will they just become another "Urban legend" ?

Watch out for Heisman hopefull Andre Woodson to have a super game against the Gators.

Greetings to all!!!

Well, for about a year now I have been listening to the nationally syndicated talk show, The Savage Nation. (www.michaelsavage.com)

Micheal Savage has been an independent conservative now for well over 10 years. Although he leans towards the republican side a little more than the democratic side, Savage has the best view in talk radio when it comes down to what's going on in the world of politics.

I pose the question to all you bloggers: what is your political affiliation, if any at all, and why?

As mentioned above, I am a registered republican, but I am soon going to switch to independent. I have noticed that republicans and democrats are very similar in many ways. The only true stance that seems to ever be highlighted between the two is abortion and the Ten Commandments. I have been very shocked over the past year or so by the way the media portrays the news of the war and the world of politics so one sided.

This political debauchery has caused me to have such a bitter taste in my mouth that I feel the only way to really seek the true knowledge of the events of our country is to listen to the real voice of America, talk radio.I hope you all enjoy my two cents worth, I have about a million dollars more of opinion. Visit back often, for you never know what I might just post.

God bless, TJ
