Zog On:
I've been on a long hiatus battling through the grind of life and now I'm ready to box around with some heavyweights called Sports, Politics, and Religion. I want to start by stating that "sparzog" blog is a site that is open to all participants. My vision is to have an open ring of ideas that challenges both the referee (myself) and the contenders/bloggers. Continuing with the boxing anologies, although I am the voluntary referee and the honorable ring side judge, as well as a contender with everyone else, I want to make it known that these SPaRing matches are to remain honest, clean, and positive -- no hits below the belt.
So enough of the disclaimer junk, I want some action. I think it will be best to have "SPaRing" matches as frequent as possible. (My honest goal would be everyday -- realistically, two or three times a week) The format will be fairly simple. I'll pick an event in Sports, Politics, or Religion and comment on it with some of my own insight. I'll post the blog and the sphere will weigh in on it. I'm eager to hear opinions from all spectrums. I think much can be gained from a man or a women who is willing to listen to what others have to say. When communication is exhibited in this type of manner, mutual respect can be gained and potential barriers that once existed between two opposing views can be bonded a little closer together. As one of my favorite talk show hosts proclaims, "Power to the People!"
Since this is technically my inagural blog, I want to take a drive the SEC highway. As many of you sports fan migh have noticed last week, the NCAA saw the #1 and #2 teams in college football get upset. With just a brief observation, once can notice that the SEC has many teams in the rankings and one particular has a soft spot in my heart. The University of Kentucky Wildcats shocked the world last Saturday by bringing their A+ game and upsetting #1 L.S.U. Now, I have a little favortism towards KY because that is where I was born and raised for 20 years. It's exciting to see UK have some excitement other than pony's and basketball. Watch out this week for KY to stun the nation once again and upset Mr. Meyer and the Gators. Could it possible be that KY might have a chance at the BCS or will they just become another "Urban legend" ?
